How my routine goes for a toss on weekends, is a shameful thing to admit. I would still choose to admit it. Another weekend and another lunch to worry about this Saturday afternoon.
Don’t be. This was my 6th attempt to have South Indian lunch at Sarvana Bhavan near Janpath. As usual, I was too hungry to wait and they were too crowded to allow me in. Thus, I took a few more steps and landed myself at Mc Donald’s Outlet.
One of my friends had suggested me to eat at Sarvana Bhavan. Rohit Vaish had commented “They have awesome South Indian Food” I was determined to have my lunch there today and I ordered burgers, French fries and coke.
Surprised about the conflict between the menu and the venue?
Sarvana Bhavan is considered to be the paradise kitchen for all those who are in love with Idlis and sambhar and Vada and lemon rice.
I just remembered that I once had Dahi Vada from there and it was awesome too. A real treat. Their coffee is a little different and amazing. It is served hot in a steel glass replacing bone china cup and a steel katori in place for saucer.
So, you are requested and urged and invited to SarvanaBhavan next weekend to have lunch with me. The only thing is either you should have it either a little earlier than usual or a little later. Or else, be prepared to follow the queue and wait a little between 12:30 to 4:00. I am thinking of arranging an online table booking system for them. Hope it happens soon enough. Amen!
Hey Ankush,
ReplyDeleteWaiting at Sarvana Bhawan can be quite a pain; specially the wait line.. uff.. at many occasion you feel giving up your wait & end up eating at Mc donalds. But patience is the key! & my tip would be avoid lunch hour rush go past 3, your wait time would be less
point taken Kanika...is there any other South Indian Food outlet in that area you know of ??
